From Stray to Star
When Reba first arrived at the shelter, it was clear she had faced quite a few challenges. Her fur was patchy and itchy, a sign of the neglect she had suffered. The tops of her ears were not just a little tender; they were bloodied and infected due to a flystrike, which must have been incredibly painful for her. Despite her rough start, Reba has made remarkable progress. Over the past month, she has healed beautifully, and her fur is gradually returning to its former glory. It’s like watching a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis; she’s now a vibrant, happy girl with so much love to give.

What makes Reba so endearing is her friendly demeanor. She absolutely delights in being around people and thrives on attention and pets. While Reba is ready to leap into a new chapter of her life, she does have a special requirement. Due to the lack of care in her past, she is Heartworm positive. But there’s no need to worry! Reba is currently undergoing the “slow-kill” method to help rid her of heartworms, and she should test negative in approximately eight months. Responsibility is part of adoption, and Reba’s new family will need to stay on top of her treatment plan, but she’s more than worth the effort!
The Perfect Home for Reba
As for her new living situation, Reba has a few preferences. She has a high prey drive for cats and will need a home without felines or other small animals. While she has had some positive interactions with other dogs through the fence, she hasn’t been directly tested yet. However, she has shown that she can adapt to different environments, having successfully settled into the routine at the shelter since her arrival.
