Chapin’s Dynamic Duo: The Lindlers of Chapin Commercial Construction

In the heart of Chapin, South Carolina, a couple is championing their community through a thriving construction business. Meet Chad and Caroline Lindler, who are the proud owners of Chapin Commercial Construction. This family-owned business reflects the couple’s deep roots and passion for their hometown—values that have driven their success since they established the company in 2018.

Building from the Ground Up

With a combined experience of over 20 years in the construction industry, the Lindlers have cultivated a strong network of partnerships with developers, architects, and suppliers across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. That experience proved invaluable when they decided to branch out on their own.

“I’ve always been a hands-on guy, and commercial construction has a way of bringing people together over time,” Chad shared. “I like to see projects evolve from concept to completion.” His wife Caroline brings her own strengths to the table, having a solid background in accounting that complements Chad’s hands-on approach. “We make a great team. I handle the financial side while he focuses on the construction,” she said.

More Than Just Buildings

Chapin Commercial Construction has built an impressive portfolio that spans various sectors—from car dealerships to fitness centers and even houses of worship. Their recent projects include notable establishments like Saluda River Baptist Church and a brand-new site for Club Pilates. The business prides itself on a design-build approach that streamlines the entire construction process, ensuring clients receive a tailored experience no matter their vision.

“It really depends from one client to another,” said Chad. “Some come with a definite plan, while others might need more guidance. Either way, we’re here to help them every step of the way.” This flexibility has endeared them to clients, evidenced by testimonials from satisfied partners like Levy Brack of Heavy Iron Cranes, who praised the Lindlers for their exceptional communication and work ethic during a recent project.

The Power of Community

The Lindlers’ commitment to their community doesn’t end at construction. Both Chad and Caroline grew up in Chapin, attended local schools, and later returned to raise their family in the very place they call home. “We love seeing our town grow and develop,” said Caroline. “It can be challenging as a business owner at times, but we feel good knowing we’re contributing to making Chapin a better place.”

Not only do they take pride in their work, but they also engage in volunteer opportunities, such as helping with Camp Kemo—a summer camp for children. “It’s important for us to give back to the community, especially as our kids grow up here too,” Chad added. “We love that our children can see us participate in activities that benefit others.”

Growing Pains and Solutions

Just like many businesses, Chapin Commercial Construction faced hurdles during the pandemic. From rising costs to supply chain challenges, the couple navigated the storm together. “We’re lucky to have built strong relationships, which have really helped,” said Caroline.

But the most pressing issue as of late has been the ongoing labor shortage in the construction industry. “Finding skilled workers is tough, but we’re grateful for the fantastic subcontractors we have,” Chad noted. “It’s really about making sure we have the right people on our team.”

Work-Life Balance: An Ongoing Journey

Running a business together means that the Lindlers have to be deliberate about maintaining their family time. Both emphasize the importance of communication and setting boundaries. “It’s easy for work to take over, especially since we often bring work home,” Chad remarked. Their strategy includes designating family time. “We are intentional about blocking out moments to be together. If we go on vacation, I might work a few hours in the morning, but afterward, we focus solely on family,” Caroline shared.

As the couple forges ahead, they remain optimistic about their plans for the future, including a new office in Beaufort to tap into the potential of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. With their roots firmly planted in Chapin, the Lindlers of Chapin Commercial Construction are not only building structures but are also solidifying their legacy in the community.
