Chapin Police Continue Search for Murder Suspect

Chapin, S.C. – The search for Nicholas Hamlett, a murder suspect wanted in connection with a first-degree murder case in Tennessee, is still ongoing early this morning. Authorities report that Hamlett was last seen around 12:30 a.m. near Chapin High School.

As of 8:30 a.m., no arrests had been made, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The U.S. Marshals Service has offered a reward of $5,000 for any tips that lead to Hamlett’s capture. It’s important to note that he is considered armed and dangerous.

Local law enforcement has kept in close contact with officials from the Lexington-Richland School District 5 as the search continues. In an email sent to parents, the school district confirmed there is an increased police presence around schools in the area to ensure safety. Currently, all schools are operating on a normal schedule, but they are monitoring the situation closely.

At 9:13 a.m., the district announced that several schools, including Chapin Elementary, Chapin Intermediate, and Chapin High School, are under a modified secure status. This means that while outdoor activities are canceled for the time being, students and parents are still able to enter and exit the buildings as needed.

Hamlett is described as being approximately 5’7″ tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair and is reported to use multiple aliases, possibly still going by Brandon Andrade’s name.

The police have urged the community to stay vigilant and report any sightings or information directly to 911. Authorities will continue their search efforts throughout the day, implementing all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chapin residents and students.

School officials reassured families that they are prepared to switch to a lockdown status if needed, ensuring everyone’s safety during this tense situation.

The residents of Chapin remain alert during this time, and many hope for a swift and safe resolution to the ongoing search for Nicholas Hamlett.
