Chapin, South Carolina is grieving the loss of a cherished member of the community, Gary David LaBruyere, who passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the age of 77. Gary was surrounded by his loving wife, Lynda, and their two sons at the time of his passing.

A Life Well-Lived

Born on August 24, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Gary spent his formative years in Jackson, South Carolina. He was a standout athlete in high school, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina, Gary dedicated 38 years of his professional life to Westinghouse’s nuclear fuel division. In retirement, he embraced hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, and enjoying the serene beauty of Lake Murray.

A Devoted Christian and Family Man

Above all, Gary was a devoted Christian who found solace and purpose in his faith. His commitment to serving others extended to his role as a deacon at Chapin Baptist Church, where he inspired and uplifted those around him.

Survived by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and brother, Gary leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. His impact on the Chapin community and beyond will not be forgotten.
