This past week in Bloomington high school sports was filled with exciting competitions and impressive performances across various teams. Here’s a recap of the latest games and matches.
Bloomington South made a strong statement with a resounding win over Terre Haute North, scoring 70 points to their 24. The Panthers (7-1, 2-0) dominated, leading 40-12 at halftime. With this victory, they maintain their strong start in Conference Indiana.
In another strong showing, Bloomington North secured a comfortable win against Columbus East, finishing with a score of 71-44. The Cougars (5-2) had a solid middle period where they outscored the Olympians 37-12. Lulu Frank was the standout with 13 points, supported by teammates Ava Robbennolt and Kate Lehr, both with 12 points.
Meanwhile, Eastern Greene finally celebrated their first win of the season with a 58-37 victory over Dugger Union. Lydia Pfaff contributed significantly, sinking five of the team’s eight three-pointers.
On the wrestling mat, Terre Haute South triumphed over Edgewood with a score of 61-18 in boys wrestling and 36-24 in girls wrestling, showcasing the strength of their wrestling programs.
The boys’ basketball action saw West Vigo edge out Owen Valley 49-44 in a close match, with the Patriots (0-2, 0-1) putting up a fight but ultimately falling short after leading at halftime.
In boys swimming, Bloomington North finished with a strong victory against East Central, winning 101-69. The Cougars had outstanding performances from swimmers like Jay Stewart and Landon Mobley, who secured first-place finishes in their respective events.
