High School Sports Recap: Bloomington Teams Shine This Week

This week in Bloomington, several high school basketball teams faced off in competitive matchups, displaying talent and determination on the court.

Bloomington North vs. Martinsville

In an exciting encounter, Bloomington North emerged victorious against Martinsville with a score of 52-47. The Cougars, despite missing key players Ashley Stegemoller and Lulu Frank, showcased a strong team effort. Kate Lehr led the scoring with 16 points, followed by Ava Robbennolt with 14, Audrey Burton contributing 11, and Rilynn Williams adding 9. The Cougars hit a total of 10 three-pointers throughout the game. Although Martinsville trailed significantly at the end of the third quarter, they rallied in the fourth, scoring 18 points to close the gap.

Edgewood Dominates Bloomfield

Edgewood put on a dominant performance against Bloomfield, winning decisively with a score of 63-24. Macey Crider led all scorers with 22 points, while Ally Bland and Madi Bland added 11 and 10 points respectively. The Mustangs had an impressive first half, leading 35-12 at halftime and showing their offensive prowess throughout the game.

Owen Valley Holds Off West Vigo

Owen Valley secured a 51-36 victory over West Vigo in another engaging match. After a slow start, the Patriots exploded for 24 points in the second quarter, propelling them to a comfortable lead. Hannah Bixler stood out with 20 points, while Aubrey Sparks and Lilly Miller contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. West Vigo struggled in the fourth quarter, managing only 2 points from the free-throw line.

Overall, it was a thrilling week for high school basketball in Bloomington, with teams showcasing their skills and strategies as they head further into the season.
