Town Theatre Presents ‘Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’ Musical, First Show on July 12

LEXINGTON, SC – As an area of enduring delight for enthusiasts of animated classics, Lexington’s Town Theatre is set to rekindle revered Disney memories with a production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.” Known to be a captivating tale of fable and love, this musical will stage its first show on Friday, July 12, providing a resplendent experience of Disney’s magical charm steeped in rich stagecraft.

Town Theatre’s Spectacular Rendition

Transforming the legendary 1991 animated film into a full-blown musical extravaganza, the Town Theatre’s edition reflects the exuberant strength of the film’s soundtrack. Originally furnished with eight songs, the stage adaptation deftly expands the narrative into a flourishing 26-song musical masterpiece. Notably, the Town Theatre, proudly ensconced on Sumter Street, has the distinction of being the first community theatre in South Carolina to produce the show as far back as 2005. Underscoring the importance of this rendition, the said musical is set to temporarily retire from licensing and will therefore not be available for theatrical performances for some time.

An Array of Talented Performers

The enchanted world of “Beauty and the Beast” is brought to vibrant life by a magnificent cast of sixty talents. While newcomers to Town Theatre, Camryn Cothran and Scarlett Stone, play the role of Belle, Lee Saxton and newcomer Wyatt Pittman embody the Beast. Richard Fisher fulfills the character of Belle’s adoring father, Maurice. Supporting characters, such as Mrs. Potts played by Kayla Welch and Ashley Alvarado, and son Chip enacted by Gemma Burkett and Lacie Walko, provide heartwarming moments throughout the performance. The production is impeccably staged by director Scott Vaughan, with Jane Cato taking the reins as music director, and the choreographic sequence brought to life by Katie Page.

A Treat for All Ages

The upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” production at Town Theatre promises to unveil multiple layers of enchantment, not only delivering a delightful family spectacle but also potentially sparking youthful imaginations to the vast world of theatrical musicals and Disney magic. It’s indeed a ‘tale as old as time’ that continues to inspire and fascinate generation after generation.

Tickets and Showtimes

Following the premier on Friday, July 12, the musical production will continue to enchant audiences until Sunday, July 28. With its license soon to retire, fans of the beloved tale are encouraged to secure their tickets and relish the moment while it lasts. It showcases yet again how Lexington’s Town Theatre remains a cherished locale for the promotion and appreciation of remarkable stagecraft.
