2024 D.C. High School Football Rankings Update
As the third week of the 2024 high school football season rolled around in Washington, D.C., the competition remained fierce. The latest On3 Massey Ratings, updated on September 18, showed that many of the top teams are holding strong in their positions, with minimal changes from previous weeks.
Currently, six teams in the top ten have not lost a game yet this season. The Gonzaga Eagles continue to lead the pack, maintaining their impressive streak of not allowing more than nine points in any game. In their recent victory against Loyola Blakefield, Gonzaga only allowed seven points while their offense showcased a powerful performance. Jason Lindsay threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns, while running back David Fred rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Next up for the Eagles is a matchup against Archbishop Carroll on September 20.
In second place are the St. John’s Cadets, who have also posted amazing numbers lately, scoring a total of 94 points while allowing just seven. They dominated Archbishop Carroll in their last game, scoring 52 points with standout performances from Breyon Williams and Nyeem Woods. The Cadets will look to extend their winning streak against Friendship Collegiate.
Trailing closely behind is the Friendship Collegiate Knights at number three, with a defense that has shown no mercy, giving up just six points in total across their first three games. They have secured two back-to-back shutouts, proving they are tough competition. Their next game will be against Dunbar, ranked fourth, which promises to be a thrilling encounter.
At number five, Dunbar has one of the most powerful offenses in the league, scoring an average of 52 points in their first three games. Their recent game against Landon showcased their offensive talent, with 446 total yards. Dunbar is preparing for a serious test against the Knights.
The Archbishop Carroll Lions are in sixth place after a recent setback against St. John’s. Despite only scoring once in that game, they remain hopeful to turn things around against Gonzaga. Meanwhile, the Roosevelt Roughriders at number seven are proving to be a challenge on defense, only allowing 16 points across their first two outings.
The remaining top spots include St. Albans Bulldogs at number eight and Woodson Warriors in ninth place, who are trying to regroup after a tough defeat against Martinsburg. Maret, rounding out the top ten, achieved a solid win over Ballou.
As the season progresses, teams are gearing up for another round of games on September 20, with each game holding the potential for surprises and shifts in the rankings.
