No.3 South Carolina sits 20th on a bunched leaderboard after the opening 18 holes of the 2024 NCAA Championship. The Gamecocks shot 296 (+8) in the afternoon wave at Omni La Costa.
Rydqvist and Lamoure Lead the Way
Junior All-American Louise Rydqvist continued her impressive form, pacing Carolina with a 3-under 69. Rydqvist carded five birdies, including a stretch of 3-straight on the back nine. Meanwhile, freshman Maylis Lamoure had an NCAA Championship debut to remember, shooting an even par 72 with four birdies, three of which came on the back nine.
Other Team Performances
Sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand shot a 77 (+5), while freshman Vairana Heck rebounded from a tough front nine to shoot even par on the back nine and finish with a 78 (+6). Junior All-American Hannah Darling posted an 84 (+12) with a pair of birdies on her scorecard.
