Oxford, Miss. – No. 22 Gamecocks Secure Road Sweep Against Ole Miss
The University of South Carolina’s No. 22 ranked softball team continued their winning streak as they secured a series sweep on the road against Ole Miss with a 4-0 victory. The Gamecocks’ stellar performance showcased their dominance on the field.
Standout Performances
Riley Blampied emerged as a key player for the Gamecocks, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, including a crucial home run. Kianna Jones maintained a perfect record at the dish, going 3-for-3, while Zoe Laneaux contributed with a 2-for-3 finish. Pitcher Alana Vawter (10-5) delivered an impressive performance, throwing the final five innings in relief, striking out five and allowing only four hits. Vawter concluded the weekend with a remarkable 15 shutout innings over all three games.

The Gamecocks took the lead in the third inning when Riley Blampied’s home run, her third of the season, pushed them ahead. South Carolina extended their lead in the fifth inning with Brooke Blankenship drawing a walk and Jen Cummings hitting a triple off the wall to bring Blankenship home. Blampied then sealed the win with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Cummings. The Gamecocks’ defense remained solid, executing their sixth double play of the weekend in the seventh inning to secure the victory.
