Lexington’s Amphitheater Presents a Family-Friendly Free Concert Series Every Thursday

A boon to the local economy and a hot spot for entertainment

Known for hosting a series of enjoyable concerts since its genesis in 2016, the Icehouse Amphitheater on Main St., Lexington, remains set to continue its tradition this year. With a diverse range of artists, as part of its Icehouse Live Spring Concert Series, the Amphitheater is all primed to earn its place in the heart of music lovers. From local favorites like The Root Doctors and Prettier Than Matt, to tribute acts and variety bands such as The Hitmen and Interstellar Echoes, regular Thursday night concerts promise a fun and memorable experience for all.

Affordable Entertainment for Every Family

Conceived as a family-friendly endeavor aiming at promoting hospitality business growth, the Icehouse Live series continues to hold free concerts with affordable food and drink options on-site. In the words of the Downtown Venue Promoter, Walker Brewer, the aim is to “make this a spot where your average family of four can come out and not really have to budget and plan for a night out.” With such a laudable goal, this brainchild of Lexington is bound to make a mark among its audience.

Boosting Local Businesses

The effects of the amphitheater’s presence have reportedly been felt in the local business scenario too. Its inception saw only three restaurants on Main St., and now, it boasts nine, with three more underway and a prospective hotel surfacing soon. According to Brewer, the vision of the amphitheater was also to stimulate the hospitality business along Main St. The growth in local establishments seems to testify the success of this goal.

Creating a Mix of the Local and the Classic

While efforts are on to promote local talent and original music, tribute bands playing classic hits spanning various decades are also a key attraction. It is indeed a ‘balancing act’, says Brewer, to achieve the perfect mix of fresh, local music and nostalgic classics that resonate with the audience.

Connecting with the Community

Perhaps, one of the most rewarding aspects of this venture for Brewer is the chance to foster relationships with the community, be it the regular attendees or local business owners. In Brewer’s own words, “Building these relationships has been the most rewarding part.”

An Invigorating Season Ahead

With such promising performances lined up, this season promises to be an exciting one. Not only will it serve as a platform for entertainment but also as a catalyst for the growth of downtown Lexington, making way for more hospitality businesses to set up shop and thrive in the area.

Looking Ahead

Music fans eagerly await the spirited performances at the Lexington’s amphitheater, with the free Thursday night concerts becoming a regular feature in their social calendar. As local businesses chime in to reap the benefits of this vibrant communal space, the picturesque Lingston town gears up for a thriving and harmonious future.
