Margaret was the wife of the late Coach Robert B. ‘Red’ Jameson. Born in Covington, VA, to the late Murrell E. Johnson, Sr. and Frieda Doris Martin Johnson, she began her teaching career at Iva Elementary School, where she worked for one year. She then spent six years teaching at Greenville Street Elementary School before dedicating an impressive 27 years to Wright Middle School. At Wright Middle School, she was well-known for chaperoning the 8th-grade Washington trip annually alongside the late Mrs. Sallie McMillan.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Margaret was an active member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church. She participated in the church’s Cheryl Camp Ladies Circle and was also a member of the Handbell Choir. Her affiliations extended to the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society, further highlighting her enthusiasm for education and community involvement.
Margaret is survived by her son, David Warren Jameson (Melanie) of Anderson, SC, and her daughter, Linda Jameson Wilber (Chuck) of Chapin, SC. She is also survived by her brother, Murrell ‘Tuffy’ Johnson, Jr. (Melinda) of Covington, VA, her seven grandchildren — Charlie Wilber (Tyler), Peyton Wilber (BethAnn), Allison Wilber, Maggie Jameson, Haley Jameson, Dawn Tyre (Mac), and Leslie Werts (Jeff) — as well as six great-grandchildren: Annabella, Autumn, Mia, Callie, Savannah, and Lilah Tate. Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Robert Jameson, and her brother, Fred Johnson. The family will receive friends on September 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville, SC. Funeral services are scheduled for September 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Abbeville First Baptist Church Sanctuary, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
