Meadowdale and Edmonds-Woodway Make Waves in Recent Sports Events

Meadowdale, WA – The Meadowdale wrestling team brought home a solid victory against Lynnwood on December 18, winning by a score of 40-31. The match was filled with various competitive bouts, with a mix of forfeits and pins contributing to the overall score.

For Meadowdale, standout performances included Melyk Valencia, who pinned Eron Hecita in just 1:21 at 120 pounds. Other notable wins came from Ashton Myers, who secured a major decision, defeating Lukah Washburn 13-0 at 126 pounds, and Miguel Garcia, who pinned Jered Sum in two minutes flat at 138 pounds.

Lynnwood did have some successes, including Eric Ly, who won a closely contested match over Hector Castro with a score of 10-6 at 132 pounds. Also worth noting, Nathan Williams scored a decision victory against William Hernandez-Chavez at 190 pounds with a final score of 5-1.

Looking ahead, Meadowdale’s next match is scheduled against Shorecrest on Tuesday, January 7, at 7 p.m. at Meadowdale High School. Meanwhile, Lynnwood will face Everett the following day on Thursday, December 19, at 7 p.m. at Lynnwood High School.

In boys basketball, Edmonds-Woodway had a convincing win over Archbishop Murphy, dominating the game with a final score of 72-36. Top performers for Edmonds-Woodway included Cam Hiatt with 19 points and Will Alseth contributing 17 points. Archbishop Murphy’s leading scorer was Jack Seivers, who netted 14 points.

The Edmonds-Woodway team now holds a record of 2-0 in league play and 5-0 overall. They look to continue their success in their next game against Stanwood on Friday, December 20.

Marysville Getchell also achieved a win, overcoming Mountlake Terrace with a score of 62-51. Bubba Palacol shone with 21 points, leading his team to victory. Both teams now stand at 4-2 for the season; Mountlake Terrace will be up against Meadowdale on Friday, December 20.

In other basketball news, Shorewood defeated Meadowdale 63-47, marking their strong performance in the league. Meadowdale’s record now sits at 0-1 in league play and 3-3 overall.

The local teams are gearing up for more matches, and the competitive spirit is alive and well as the season progresses.
