COLUMBIA, S.C. — Exciting New Addition to BullStreet District!
Have you heard the latest buzz from downtown Columbia? Developers are rolling out an amazing new attraction called The Lawn in the bustling BullStreet District, and it’s set to transform the area into a vibrant community hub. With aspirations to host lively dining and recreational activities, this project is poised to become the go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.
What’s the Big Idea?
According to Chandler Cox, the project manager for BullStreet District, the overarching goal is to create a space that compels people to stay longer and engage more deeply with their surroundings. “Our hope for Bull Street is that when you come here, you park your car, and you may come for one reason but you find a lot of reasons to stay and enjoy and be engaged,” Cox explains.
Spanning over 3,000 square feet, The Lawn will be at the heart of this expansive 20-year development project. “The Lawn is really intended to be sort of the great public gathering place—think a great plaza with shops and restaurants and retail opening up onto it,” he added. Imagine a lively atmosphere filled with everything from yoga classes and live music to vibrant festivals. It’s all about creating that sense of community where you can truly connect with others.
Get Ready for Dining Delights!
One of the most exciting features of The Lawn? The newly renovated Williams Building will host a Coastal Crust Wood-fired pizza restaurant as its centerpiece. This addition promises to bring a flavor of authentic Columbia to the area. “This is truly, authentically Columbia, and so, when you come to Bull Street, you know that you’re in Columbia, and you’re not just put down in any development anywhere in America,” Cox remarked.
The developers are putting a strong emphasis on honoring the area’s rich history, and that means integrating some of the old architecture into the new vibe. “Being able to reuse the facade of the historic Williams Building, pair it with this sort of modern jewel box retail restaurant space, is a really cool way to incorporate the history into what is going to happen in the future,” Cox explained.
Stay Tuned for New Businesses!
But wait, there’s more! The Lawn is just the tip of the iceberg for the ever-evolving BullStreet District. With several new businesses on the horizon, excitement continues to build. Cox shared that “there’s always so much going on in the BullStreet district,” and this development journey is just getting started.
New offerings are already in the works, including the highly anticipated Pvolve opening this year, Methodical Coffee’s arrival, and Tupelo Honey set to open its doors early next year. Plus, Image Studios has just opened, adding a fresh and exciting element to the community. “We’re looking forward to continuing that momentum into 2025 and beyond,” Cox emphasized, illuminating the commitment to keeping the area lively.
