High School Sports Recap: Exciting Games Across Minnesota
This past week, schools around Minnesota showcased some thrilling high school basketball and hockey action. Here are the highlights from both boys’ and girls’ sports, as teams fought hard on the court and ice.
Boys Basketball
In the metropolitan area, Cloquet edged out Chisago Lakes with a score of 95-88. Monticello also had a solid performance against Delano, winning 72-53. The game between Northfield and St. Peter was another nail-biter, with Northfield taking the win at 84-75.
Other noteworthy matches included Princeton defeating Hermantown 95-87 and South St. Paul dominating Columbia Heights with a score of 88-55. Red Wing had a convincing victory over Plainview-Elgin-Millville, finishing 53-36.
Girls Basketball
In girls’ basketball, Blaine showed strength, beating Cambridge-Isanti 68-31. Chanhassen also had an impressive game, coming out on top against Park Center with a score of 80-51. Farmington secured a win against Woodbury, 67-47, while Hopkins narrowly defeated Benilde-St. Margaret’s 64-62.
Another tight match was seen as Roseville triumphed over Anoka, finishing 54-49. Minnehaha Academy dominated St. Paul Como Park 89-31 in a strong performance.
Boys Hockey
In boys’ hockey action, Eden Prairie defeated Chaska 7-1, while Prior Lake pulled off a win against Farmington, with a close score of 4-2. Another highlight included Cretin-Derham Hall‘s convincing win over Hibbing/Chisholm, finishing 6-1.
The game between Chanhassen and Andover ended in favor of Chanhassen at 3-0, illustrating their dominance on the ice.
Girls Hockey
In the girls’ league, Eden Prairie had a come-from-behind victory against Wayzata, winning 2-0. The matchup between Farmington and Prior Lake was intense, ending in overtime, with Farmington winning 3-2.
