High School Sports Roundup from Minnesota
This week, Minnesota high school athletes had an exciting round of competitions across various sports. The state tournament for adapted soccer kicked off with some impressive performances. In the CI Division quarterfinals, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville dominated against St. Cloud with a score of 6-0. Dakota United also showcased their strength with a 3-0 win over Buffalo/Monticello/STMA. Other notable results included Park Center, who battled their way to a 9-6 victory against South Washington County, and South Suburban, who triumphed over Stillwater/Mahtomedi with a score of 8-4.
In the PI Division, Dakota United secured an easy 6-0 win against St. Paul Humboldt. Meanwhile, Mpls. South completely overwhelmed South Suburban with an impressive score of 11-0. Park Center faced Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka and came out on top with a 6-2 result, while Rochester defeated Anoka-Hennepin 8-3.
As for football, the Class 6A state semifinals saw Maple Grove continuing their winning streak by defeating Shakopee 26-14. In the Class 5A semifinals, Elk River edged out Chanhassen with a close score of 21-19. In Class 4A, Totino-Grace outperformed Orono by a score of 30-21. Class 2A saw two thrilling matches; Jackson County Central took a close victory against Kimball with a score of 34-26, while Staples-Motley was victorious over Chatfield 36-24.
Shifting to hockey, the girls’ matches also delivered excitement. Anoka managed a 4-2 win against St. Cloud, while in a nail-biter, Delano/Rockford defeated Luverne 3-2 in overtime. Dodge County also claimed a close victory against Breck, ending the game with a 3-2 score in another overtime thriller. Eden Prairie overpowered Grand Rapids/Greenway with a score of 6-4.
