Pittsburgh High School Sports Week: Playoff Action Kicks Off with Football, Field Hockey, and Soccer Championships

Exciting High School Sports Ahead in Pennsylvania

This week in Pennsylvania, high school sports fans can look forward to a packed schedule featuring field hockey, football, soccer, hockey, volleyball, and more. Many teams are preparing for crucial postseason matches in the various tournaments.

Field Hockey PIAA Tournament Semifinals

On Tuesday evening, several field hockey semifinal matches will take place. In the Class 3A, Villa Maria Academy (23-1) faces Emmaus (25-1) at Exeter Township at 6 p.m.. From the same class, Central Bucks West (22-4) will compete against Conestoga (20-3) at Methacton, also at 6 p.m..

In Class 2A, Kennett (16-7-1) will challenge Northern York (21-3) at Millersville University, while Palmyra (17-5) takes on Warwick (21-1) at Landis Field at 5 p.m..

Class A has Wyoming Area (20-0) against Boiling Springs (19-5) at Milton and Newport (19-5) versus West Perry (22-0) at Susquenita, both scheduled for 6 p.m..

Football WPIAL Championships

This Saturday, the WPIAL Class 6A Championship will feature Central Catholic (9-2) going up against North Allegheny (10-1) at Norwin, starting at 6:05 p.m.. Excitement builds as teams clash for top honors as we move into semifinals and finals across different classes.

On Friday, fans can expect thrilling semifinals in Class 5A with Pine-Richland (10-1) matching up against Bethel Park (11-2) and Upper St. Clair (11-0) facing off with Peters Township (10-1) at 7 p.m.

Soccer and Hockey Matches

The boys’ soccer PIAA tournament semifinals are also set for Tuesday. In Class 4A, Great Valley (17-6-2) goes up against Parkland (22-0), and Cumberland Valley (20-1-1) faces Warwick (19-3) at Landis Field.

On the ice, several hockey games will take place on Monday night, including a matchup in Class 3A where Thomas Jefferson meets Pine-Richland at Baierl Ice Complex, starting at 7 p.m..

Volleyball Tournament Semifinals

The girls’ volleyball PIAA tournament returns with semifinals scheduled for Tuesday. In Class 4A, Spring-Ford (20-7) will take on Central Dauphin (17-4) at Cocalico at 7 p.m., ensuring an electric atmosphere.
