Arlington High Schools Gear Up for Final Sports Showdown
Arlington, VA – This week, local high schools wrapped up a busy fall sports season and are set for a quieter schedule ahead. With many teams finishing their regular seasons, only a handful of games and playoff matches remain on the calendar.
One of the most anticipated events is the all-Arlington football matchup on Friday night, November 8, where the Wakefield Warriors will host the Washington-Liberty Generals. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m., promising a fierce battle between these two rivals.
Later in the weekend, on Saturday, November 9, the Bishop O’Connell Knights will face off against St. Paul VI Catholic at noon, while the Yorktown Patriots will travel to Herndon for their game starting at 1 p.m..
In addition to football, the ice hockey season is heating up for Washington-Liberty, who will take on West Potomac at the Prince William Ice Center at 6:40 p.m.. The Knights and Patriots are also preparing for their respective hockey seasons, set to kick off in the coming days.
This week also features some exciting events in girls volleyball and field hockey. The Bishop O’Connell volleyball team will compete in the Division I state private school championship match at The Steward School starting at noon. Meanwhile, the Yorktown field hockey team will be in action for the Class 6 state tournament quarterfinal game, with a time to be announced.
With these final competitions of the fall season, Arlington high schools are looking to finish strong and hopefully carry their momentum into the winter sports season. Good luck to all the teams!
