High School Sports Recap: A Thrilling Week in Palm Desert

Palm Desert has been buzzing with excitement this week as high school sports kicked into high gear. The football frenzy and thrilling moments are making headlines across the valley. Recently, the spotlight was on Shadow Hills High School as they celebrated a surprising victory against La Quinta. This jubilant moment was captured beautifully by our photographer Jay Calderon, who took home last week’s Photo of the Week honor.

This week, several contenders are vying for the top photo spot, and it’s up to the fans to select their favorite. Exciting images include Jonathan Martinez from Palm Desert taking a powerful shot during a playoff game against JW North, making for a stunning capture by photographer Andy Abeyta as he dodged the action.

In another highlight, Ozyas Crawford of Desert Hot Springs made an impressive run, crossing the goal line against Cathedral City, showcasing his determination and skill. This moment was celebrated with a gallery capturing all the action from that game.

The Bell Game between Coachella Valley and Indio was another exciting matchup where Ivan Camargo put on a show, breaking through multiple tackles on his way to score a touchdown. Fans can view all the shots from this exhilarating clash.

Lastly, Palm Desert’s Jonah Toland was seen making valiant attempts at tackles during the Flag Game against La Quinta. The atmosphere was electric, especially when Palm Desert emerged victorious, securing a share of the Desert Empire League title. A jubilant group of Aztecs celebrated this win, highlighting their teamwork and spirits.

Fans can still vote for this week’s top photo, and the winner will be announced on Thursday at noon. With thrilling plays, intense competition, and community spirit, Palm Desert’s high school sports scene is full of life and excitement!
