This past week in Albany high school sports was filled with exciting performances from student-athletes across various sports. Football took center stage, with many players showcasing their talents on the field. A standout performance came from Archie Jones of CBA, who had an impressive game as the junior quarterback. He connected on 11-of-14 passes for 214 yards and threw for four touchdowns in a dominating 49-6 victory over Guilderland.
Alongside Jones, his teammates also shined in the same match. Lucius Anderson caught six passes for 142 yards and scored three touchdowns, and Tommy Toher rushed for 181 yards on 13 carries and added another touchdown. The victory emphasized the team’s strength and cohesion this season.
In Shenendehowa, senior running back Ihsann Alozie, who has committed to Navy, had a remarkable game against Saratoga Springs. He carried the ball 14 times for 240 yards and scored two touchdowns, leading his team to a secure 28-0 win.

Brady Wyland from Colonie made a significant impact with eight receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns in Colonie’s 21-15 comeback victory against La Salle. In Queensbury, Zavry Ward led the team to an overtime win against Columbia with 313 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ soccer realm, Ava Goodman of Saratoga Springs scored the game-winning goal in overtime, pushing her team past Shenendehowa 1-0 in the Class AAA semifinals. In another exciting moment, Olivia Bigness netted two goals, including the game-winner as time expired, leading Guilderland to a 2-1 title triumph over Saratoga Springs.
As the excitement continues, important games are lined up this week, with teams like Shenendehowa facing Shaker this Friday at 7 p.m. Football, soccer, and more will keep athletes on their toes as they look to secure wins in their respective matches, pushing towards championship glory as the season progresses.
