On Friday night, November 1, high school sports in Maryland delivered some exciting matchups across various games. Here’s a recap of the key highlights from the evening.

Football

In an all-out showdown, Arundel defeated Annapolis with a score of 43-6. TJ Mordecai made headlines by rushing for three touchdowns and amassing an impressive 110 yards. Quarterback Ahmir Lowery also shined, throwing for 113 yards with touchdowns to both Darius Burton and Jacob Dy. On the other side, Annapolis saw a brief spark from Darrian Carter, who threw a long 70-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

In another thrilling game, Old Mill narrowly defeated Meade with a 32-27 score. Tahzay Brown was a standout, collecting 120 receiving yards and scoring two touchdowns, while Trey Martini threw four touchdown passes, totaling 269 yards.

Also noteworthy was Southern, who edged out Chesapeake with a close score of 28-23, thanks to touchdowns from Brett Apperson and Isaiah Crampton among others.

Field Hockey

A thrilling night continued with field hockey. Sparrows Point proved dominant, winning 9-1 against Lackey led by Ami Walters who scored a hat trick. The Pointers advance to the semifinals after this impressive performance.

Broadneck also showcased their skill, shutting out Montgomery Blair with a score of 10-0. Abbie Morris made significant contributions with a hat trick, pushing Broadneck forward in the state semifinals.

Volleyball

On the volleyball court, Fallston swept past North Harford in a convincing 3-0 match. Emma Chasan led the Cougars with her strong performance, highlighting the team’s solid defense.

In another regional semifinal, Patterson Mill took down Joppatowne, also winning 3-0 with Sophie Lopano standing out for her double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs.
