High School Sports Roundup from Cranston
Cranston, RI – The high school sports scene was buzzing with excitement as teams battled it out on the field and court. In Division III soccer, the Cranston East Thunderbolts shut out the Rogers Vikings with a decisive 4-0 victory. Madisen Gallo, Jaelyn Cogean, Lena Ramcharran, and Tia Sanzaro all scored goals, bringing the Thunderbolts’ record to an impressive 9-7-3 while Rogers dropped to 5-12-1.
In Division IV action, the Lincoln School Lynx overwhelmed Times2 with a whopping 10-0 scoreline. Sarah Berube was a standout player with two goals and two assists, while Bianca Monteiro-Lopes and Sophia DeMelo also contributed two goals each. The Lynx now stand at 11-3-1 after this commanding win, leaving the Eagles struggling at 1-11.
Division II tennis saw Lincoln overpower Cumberland, winning 4-0 in a preliminary match. The match was clinched at second singles by Tanvi Bobbilli, who dominated her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Lincoln now looks ahead to the quarterfinals against Prout on Friday.
In volleyball, Portsmouth Patriots improved their record to 15-1 with a 3-0 win over the South Kingstown Rebels. Key players included Hailey Labonte, who scored 13 kills, 5 aces, and 10 digs, and Caitlin Mediate with 21 assists.
Meanwhile, the EWG Scarlet Knights also achieved a strong performance against West Warwick, winning with scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-17. Isabella McCombs was instrumental, finishing with 10 kills and 9 digs.
